The Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) Alumni set of 1997–2000 has been thrown into mourning following the sudden demise of one of its cherished members, Mr.Seun Obikoya popularly called ‘Elder’ in the Kegite circle and by friends close to him.
News of his passing was broken late last night by a friend close to the family who confirmed the sad incident therey sending shockwaves through the tight-knit alumni group, many of whom have remained closely bonded over the past two decades.
Members have been sharing emotional tributes and memories across social media platforms and in their private WhatsApp group, expressing their deep sorrow and celebrating the life of their late colleague.
“We are devastated,” said Mr. Dele Oyeledun ‘Droid’ the current President of the TASCE 97/2000 Alumni. “This is not just a loss to the alumni body, but to all who had the privilege of knowing and working with our departed brother/sister. We remember the vibrant energy, the wisdom, and the constant support given to alumni activities. It’s a gap that will be difficult to fill.”
The deceased was known to have been an active participant in recent alumni mentorship re-union organized by the association. Friends and peers recall a personality defined by warmth, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to education and personal development.
According to preliminary information shared by a source close to the family members, the deceased passed away in a fatal car crash.
Meanwhile, funeral arrangements are currently underway, and the alumni association has pledged full support to the family during this difficult time. A delegation is expected to visit the family in person to offer condolences and present a formal letter of sympathy on behalf of the alumni body.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the TASCE Alumni National Secretariat also expressed its condolences:
“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends, and loved ones of our dear colleague, Oluwaseun Obikoya ‘Elder’. May the Almighty grant the family the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss and may the soul of the departed find eternal rest.”
