…promises more dividends of democracy for residents
The Executive Chairperson of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayoress Samiat Abolanle Bada, has officially commenced her second term in office with a pledge to deliver even greater dividends of democracy to the residents of the Ikosi-Isheri community.
In a colourful swearing-in ceremony held at the Ikosi-Isheri Council Secretariat on Sunday, July 28, 2025, the Mayoress inaugurated newly elected councillors representing the various wards of the LCDA.
The event drew notable political leaders, traditional rulers, party loyalists, community stakeholders, youth groups, and residents who gathered to witness the historic occasion.
The multiple award-winning chairman and the Olu-Omo of Kosofeland, who was re-elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed deep gratitude to the people of Ikosi-Isheri for renewing her mandate.
The Queen Mother, in her remarks, described her re-election as a call to do more, pledging that her administration will build on the successes of her first term while introducing fresh initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents across all sectors.
“This second term is not for celebration but for deeper reflection and greater action. We will not rest on our oars. Our goal is to consolidate on the gains we have made in health, education, infrastructure, empowerment, and digital inclusion, and to take Ikosi-Isheri to greater heights”. She said.
Highlighting her vision for the next three years, the Mayoress emphasized her administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, women-focused initiatives, affordable healthcare, accessible education, and infrastructural development. She reiterated her readiness to work in synergy with the legislative arm to enact people-centred policies.
The event also featured the official swearing-in of the elected councillors representing the seven wards of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA. The newly inaugurated legislators pledged their loyalty to the constitution and vowed to work in harmony with the executive to fulfil the collective aspirations of the people.
Among those present at the occasion were party chieftains, former council officials, religious leaders, market women associations, and community development committees, who all took turns to commend the Mayoress for her visionary leadership and inclusive governance style.
Mrs. Folashade Olatunji, a market leader in Ketu, praised the Mayoress for her consistency and grassroots impact. “She is a woman of her word. In her first term, we saw projects and policies that directly affected the common people. We are confident this second term will be even more fruitful,” she remarked.
With her re-election and the swearing-in of a new legislative team, residents of Ikosi-Isheri are hopeful for a more progressive era marked by responsive governance, people-driven development, and enhanced service delivery.
The Mayoress concluded her address by charging the new councillors to be selfless in their service and to remain accountable to their constituents, adding that history will remember only those who serve with integrity and passion.
