Somolu chairman-elect, councillors praise APC, supporters and residents

The newly elected Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Ojomu, along with the councillors-elect, have extended their heartfelt appreciation to the All Progressives Congress (APC), party supporters, and the good people of Somolu for their unwavering support during the just-concluded local government elections.

Speaking shortly after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Hon. Ashimi expressed deep gratitude to the APC leadership at the state and local levels, noting that the victory was a reflection of the people’s trust in progressive leadership and continuity.
“Today’s success is not just mine—it belongs to every single resident of Somolu who believes in a better future. I thank our great party, the APC, for giving me the platform, and I commend our party leaders, members, campaign team, and the electorate for standing firm and voting wisely”. he said.
Ashimi, who has just won his first term, emphasised that the renewed mandate is a call for greater commitment to development and people-oriented governance.
 He continued, “I assure you that we will continue to work hard and deliver projects that positively impact lives. Somolu will witness even more legacy projects, empowerment programmes, and quality service delivery”. He promised.
Similarly, the councillors-elect across various wards in Somolu expressed joy over their electoral victories. They hailed the democratic process and credited the APC’s structure and grassroots strength for ensuring a smooth campaign and decisive win.
Hon. Raheem Azeez (Gafara), councillor-elect for Ward E, described the outcome as a reward for consistent service and engagement. “We thank the voters for trusting us again. Our goal remains to serve diligently and uphold the values of our party.” He stated.
Other councillors-elect also praised party chieftains, campaign coordinators, youth groups, market women, and community leaders who contributed to the resounding electoral success.
In a show of unity and appreciation, the elected officials joined together in a post-election thanksgiving rally across key areas of Somolu, where they interacted with residents and assured them of inclusive governance.
The APC flagbearers secured victories in all councillorship positions in the local government, reaffirming the party’s dominance in the area.
Residents who spoke with the press welcomed the results and called on the elected officials to uphold their promises and focus on youth development, infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
With the certificates now in hand, the council chairman and councillors are expected to be sworn-in officially in the coming days, marking the beginning of another four-year tenure aimed at consolidating the gains of the previous administration.
