Family celebrates 2nd anniversary of late Dr. Chris Akinwale, reaffirms their dedication to Dr. Chris Akinwale Foundation

In a solemn yet uplifting gathering held a few weeks ago, the family of the late Dr. Chris Akinwale marked the second anniversary of his passing with a heartfelt remembrance ceremony, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to continuing his legacy through the Dr. Chris Akinwale Foundation.

The commemorative event, held and attended by friends, associates, religious leaders, and well-wishers, served as both a tribute to a life of purpose and an inspiration for ongoing community impact.

Emotional yet reflective, the atmosphere was filled with prayers, tributes, and testimonies that painted a vivid picture of a man whose life embodied service, humility, and compassion.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Femi Akinwale, brother of the late doctor, described his brother as “a rare gem and pillar of strength,” whose passion for humanity still burns bright in the hearts of those he touched.

“Though it’s been two years, it still feels like yesterday. But through the Dr. Chris Akinwale Foundation, we are turning our grief into gratitude and continuing his work of empowering lives, supporting the needy, and offering scholarships to underprivileged children,” she stated.

The highlight of the occasion was the reaffirmation of the family’s dedication to the foundation, which was established shortly after Dr. Akinwale’s death in 2024. The foundation has since carried out outreach programs, including food drive initiatives in underserved communities.

A board member of the foundation and the Chairperson of Somolu local government, Hon. Mrs. Mariam Omotanwa Salau, noted that the next phase of the organisation will focus on expanding its Food Bank intervention programs in other areas, a vision that Dr. Akinwale had always dreamed of.

“We are not just remembering a man today — we are carrying forward a movement he started and cherished. His name lives on through every person we empower,” she said.

Also in attendance were members of the medical community who paid glowing tributes to the late doctor’s professionalism and passion for public health.

“Dr. Akinwale was a brilliant mind, a mentor, and an advocate for accessible healthcare,” said Dr. Okoye, who worked with him during several medical outreaches. “His work continues to ripple through our practices and through this foundation.”

Meanwhile, the family expressed their deep gratitude to all supporters and urged the public to join in keeping his legacy alive by volunteering, donating, or partnering with the foundation.

Dr. Chris Akinwale may have departed this world, but his mission of service lives on — bold, compassionate, and unrelenting.
