2nd Anniversary: Lawmaker delivers on infrastructure, empowerment, and welfare in Somolu

The constituents of Somolu are beginning to feel the positive impact of effective representation, as Hon. Abiodun Abimbola Orekoya, a serving legislator representing Somolu Constituency I, continues to record notable achievements across various sectors within the community.

From infrastructure rehabilitation to youth empowerment, and from financial support initiatives to consistent welfare outreach, Hon. Orekoya’s commitment to the development and wellbeing of his people remains unwavering.

One of the standout areas of progress under his leadership is infrastructure development. Through his intervention and influence, key inner-city roads have undergone significant rehabilitation. These include Oguntolu Street, Awoseyin Street, Craig Street, and Anuoluwapo and some other areas all of which now enjoy smoother access, improved drainage, and enhanced mobility for residents and businesses alike.

In the area of employment and empowerment, Hon. Orekoya has rolled out impactful initiatives, particularly targeted at grassroots beneficiaries. No fewer than 50 market women have received financial support, enabling them to scale their trade and improve their livelihood.

Additionally, over 20 businesswomen and artisans have benefited from empowerment schemes designed to enhance their productivity and financial independence. Remarkably, through his advocacy and strategic collaboration with relevant government agencies, more than 20 constituents have secured gainful government employment, bringing relief to many families.

Hon. Orekoya has also shown a deep understanding of the role of youth in national development. Beyond occasional gestures, he has involved young people in policy discourse and decision-making processes. He is known for sponsoring and co-sponsoring legislative bills that drive growth and transformation in both Somolu and Lagos State. These bills aim to improve service delivery, promote inclusivity, and strengthen institutional frameworks for sustainable development.

On the social front, the lawmaker continues to uphold the principles of welfarism. He has consistently demonstrated compassion and responsiveness, particularly during difficult times. Whether during periods of economic hardship, community emergencies, or festive celebrations, Hon. Abiodun Abimbola Orekoya has made it a point to reach out to his constituents, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Residents who spoke to our correspondent described Orekoya as “a lawmaker who doesn’t just sit in chambers but brings democracy home.” His continued engagement, both in word and deed, reinforces public confidence in the power of representation and service-driven politics.

Meanwhile, as Somolu progresses under his watch, many believe that Hon. Orekoya is not just building roads and creating jobs—he is restoring hope and redefining leadership in local governance.
