In a remarkable display of leadership and commitment to grassroots development, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, on Wednesday, April 24, 2025, rounded off a week-long commissioning and empowerment initiative with the unveiling of key infrastructure projects and a massive empowerment programme benefitting over 500 residents.
The grand finale, held within the LCDA, witnessed the official commissioning of several capital projects, including a newly constructed Legislative Building, a Customary Court, an Agencies Complex, and a fully renovated 3-block classroom at Ikosi Primary School. These projects, according to the Mayoress, are critical in enhancing legislative efficiency, community justice, administrative coordination, and quality basic education in the LCDA.
As part of her administration’s commitment to poverty alleviation and youth empowerment, Princess Bada also distributed a wide array of empowerment tools and equipment. Beneficiaries received items such as tricycles, barbing kits, hairdryers, sewing machines, grinding machines, vulcanizing machines, popcorn-making machines, Point of Sale (POS) devices with startup capital, and coolers stocked with soft drinks — all aimed at improving livelihoods and encouraging small-scale entrepreneurship within the community.
The event was graced by several notable dignitaries, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi; Secretary of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Alhaji Mutiu Are; Senator Bareehu Ashafa; Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Kosofe Constituency II, Hon. Femi Saheed; Hon. Afolabi Kazeem; the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Oshinowo; the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Animashaun; and the APC Lagos State Woman Leader, among others.
In her address, the Mayoress expressed gratitude for the continued support of the people of Ikosi-Isheri and restated her unwavering dedication to inclusive governance, infrastructural development, and human capital investment.
“This programme is a testament to our administration’s resolve to bring the dividends of democracy to the grassroots. These projects and empowerment tools are not just structures and items; they are instruments of transformation, designed to uplift our people and enhance the socio-economic growth of our LCDA,” she remarked.
The event ended on a celebratory note with songs of appreciation echoing among residents and stakeholders, many of whom described the Mayoress as a visionary leader with a heart for the people.
