It was a night of spiritual upliftment and communal joy in Somolu as the Lagos state House of Assembly member representing Somolu Constituency I, Hon. Abiodun Abimbola Orekoya hosted a well-attended “Night Praise” event on Saturday 17th April, 2025 that brought together residents, political allies, religious leaders, and gospel enthusiasts in an atmosphere filled with worship and celebration.
Held at the new Somolu local government administrative complex GlassHouse, the event attracted a diverse crowd comprising elders, youths, and children who clad in traditional and casual attire, attendees filled the venue with vibrant colours, creating a festive scene that reflected the deep religious values of the people.
From spirited praise and worship sessions to heartfelt prayers and choral renditions, the ‘Night Praise’ programme was marked by soul-stirring performances and moments of reflection. Several topnotch gospel music ministers took turns to lead the crowd in exaltation, while participants danced joyfully, sang along, and raised their voices in thanksgiving.
The convener, Hon. Orekoya, who has continued to build a reputation for bridging politics and community development with spirituality, was seen engaging with guests, dancing with attendees, and expressing gratitude for the massive turnout.
Members of the Orekoya Political Train (OPT), a visible political movement backing the host, were also on ground, clad in branded white T-shirts, providing coordination and ensuring smooth logistics throughout the evening.
“This is not just about politics or ambition. It’s about giving God thanks and bringing the people together in unity and peace,” Hon. Orekoya said in a brief remark, receiving applause from the energized crowd.
Dignitaries present included local chiefs, clerics from various denominations, and community leaders who lauded the initiative and its impact in fostering spiritual consciousness and unity among residents.
As the night deepened, the atmosphere remained electric, with more worship, dancing, and testimonies filling the air. Attendees expressed hope that such an event would become a recurring feature in Somolu’s socio-religious calendar.
Indeed, the Night Praise lived up to its promise – not only as a gathering of faith, but as a powerful display of Somolu’s communal spirit, cultural pride, and divine gratitude.
