Popular Fuji musician and Queen of Fuji, Ambassador Queen Tosin Eniba Yeyeluwa Fuji (Asiwaju1), has issued a stern warning to the controversial street-hop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, over his recent derogatory statements about Fuji music legends Saheed Osupa and Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.
In a viral video, Portable, known for his dramatic and unfiltered expressions, disparaged Osupa and Pasuma, sparking widespread criticism from fans and industry stakeholders.
Reacting to the controversy, the Queen of Fuji, a respected figure in the Fuji music scene, condemned Portable’s remarks, describing them as disrespectful and unnecessary.
The Somolu/Bariga-born artist emphasized that both Osupa and Pasuma have significantly contributed to the growth of Fuji music and Nigerian entertainment at large.
According to her, Portable, as a rising artist, should show respect to those who paved the way in the industry rather than engaging in baseless verbal attacks.
“I don’t understand why Portable thinks disrespecting legends is the way to go. Osupa and Pasuma have built a legacy over the years, and it is wrong for anyone, especially someone younger in the industry, to insult them. We should appreciate and celebrate our pioneers, not bring them down,” she said.
The Queen of Fuji also advised Portable to focus on improving his craft rather than engaging in controversies that could damage his reputation. She urged him to learn from the experiences of established musicians who have maintained relevance through talent, discipline, and respect for their predecessors.
Meanwhile, fans and Fuji music enthusiasts have also taken to social media to express their disappointment in Portable’s statements, with many calling for him to tender a public apology to the Fuji legends. Some stakeholders in the industry have also suggested that Portable should undergo mentorship to better understand not only the culture and values of Fuji but music tradition in it’s entirety.
Although, Portable had earlier alleged that Osupa reported him to the online music giant, Spotify for using his song without his knowledge which resulted in bringing down Portable’s song by Spotify. The move did not go down well with the controversial singer who instantly kicked against it.
He, instead continues to shower encomium on Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma for his understanding and cooperation over the usage of some few lines from his song like he did to Osupa’s song.
As the controversy continues to generate discussions, many are watching to see if Portable will retract his statements or face further backlash from Fuji music loyalists.
