The Ojusagbola Villa in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, came alive on Friday 24th January, 2025, as dignitaries from all walks of life gathered to honour the late Alhaja Halima Abike Akeredolu Adesanya Anifowoshe, the mother of Nigeria’s Fuji music icon, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate). The 8th Day Fidau Prayer, a significant Islamic rite held in her remembrance, drew a large audience of eminent personalities, reflecting the impactful life the late matriarch lived.
Alhaja Halima passed away at the remarkable age of 106, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and community service. The solemn occasion, infused with cultural and spiritual undertones, was a fitting tribute to a life well spent.
Leading the list of dignitaries was the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who graced the event alongside top government officials. In his tribute, the governor described the late Alhaja Halima Anifowoshe as a virtuous woman whose exemplary life positively influenced her family and community. He also commended K1 De Ultimate for upholding his mother’s legacy of compassion and humility.
Also present at the event were notable legislators, including the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, and Insurance; Senator Tokunbo Abiru, the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District; Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi). Their presence underscored the respect and admiration the family commands.
The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo. The Fidau prayer, officiated by prominent Islamic clerics, focused on seeking divine mercy for the soul of the deceased. In their sermons, the clerics emphasized the importance of prayer, good deeds, and the enduring legacy one leaves behind. They extolled the virtues of the late Alhaja Halima Anifowoshe, highlighting her devotion to her faith, family, and community.
In an emotional speech, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, acknowledging their support during this difficult time. “My mother was my pillar and guide, a source of inspiration who taught me invaluable lessons in life. I am deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and respect shown to her memory today,” he said.
Traditional rulers, captains of industry, and socialites also graced the occasion, further demonstrating the widespread admiration for the late matriarch. The atmosphere was uplifted by soul-stirring performances from Islamic singers and Fuji musicians, who rendered songs of comfort and tribute to console the family and guests.
As the event concluded, guests were treated to a feast of sumptuous meals and refreshments, a reflection of Yoruba hospitality. Many attendees commended the flawless organization of the event and prayed for the eternal repose of Alhaja Halima’s soul.
