In order to further improve the living conditions of the residents of the Somolu community, the Executive Chairman of Somolu local government; Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ has on Friday 3rd 2025 presented the year 2025 appropriation bill christened “Budget of Consolidation” to the legislative council for consideration.

The event which took place at the newly completed Somolu Legislative Complex, Somolu LG had in attendance the Vice-Chairman of the council, Hon. Adekunle Ekiyemi, the former Sole Administrator of Somolu LG; Hon. Williams Bamidele Lawanson, the immediate past Chairman of the council; Hom. Gbolahan Bagostowe, the former Speaker of the Somolu Legislative Council; Hon. Gbenga Abdullahi, the chairman of Apex leader, Federal constituency; Apostle Peter Oyewusi, the former leader of the House and APC Apex leader; Hon. Ademola Adefalujo Olisa and Apex leader Alhaji Fatai Bakare to mention but few.
In his 7th Budget presentation opening speech, the council helmsman commended the House for always treating the bill with utmost diligence which has led to running an inclusive government where the governed have been actively involved in the governance of the community.

He continues, “The approval you gave us last year brought tangible dividends of democracy to the good people of Somolu local government across all the sectors. I vividly recall your oversight functions and project assessment tours to our various project sites. Your verdict aligned with the views of the majority of our residents, who stated that “we have performed beyond expectations”.
“You will recall, distinguished House members, that this year, the voice of our residents was loud and clear regarding the biting economic situation particularly due to the removal of fuel subsidy. In response to this, we received clear instructions from President Bila Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal through palliatives”.

“With your collaboration and approval of the 2024 budget, we have delivered impactful projects to the people of Somolu, these include the completion of the new Somolu Local Government Administrative Complex, Somolu Fire Service, Bashua Police Station, Wright Primary HealthCare Center and Wesley Primary School and several other initiatives”. He stated.
Hon. Dullar in conclusion used the opportunity to observe a minute silence and console the good people of Somolu local government, particularly those from Ward C and F which the late Hon. Folarin Adegbite and late AbdulLateef Muibi represented before their demise.

In his response, the Leader of the House, Hon. Yomi Oshunkoya, however, applauded the AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ led administration for embarking on huge and impactful infrastructural development which have led to wholesome socio-economic growth and development in the last 7 years of assuming office as the council chairman.
