The Executive Chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ recently held a remarkable 2025 budget retreat at the new Somolu Secretariat, Onafowokan Street, Somolu, Lagos.
Speaking during his address, the Agba-Akin of Agboyi Kingdom stated that the budget for the coming year 2025 was meant to consolidate all that has been achieved since commencement of his administration in 2017.
“To the glory of God, every facet of humanity has been touched by our administration. The budget for the coming year 2025 was meant to consolidate all that has been achieved since the commencement of my administration in 2017”.
Meanwhile, the facilitator of the budget retreat and Director from the Lagos State Local Government Conference of Planners, Mr. Ismail Ogunbambi, lauded the Infrastructure developments the council chairman put in place, stating that the visible development was a testament to effective budget implementation making his administration seamless.
Ogunbambi also urged Hon. Yomi Oshunkoya to enact a law for periodic maintenance of the administrative complex to achieve sustainability.
In his remarks, the Director of Budget, Planning, and Statistics, Mr. Giwa Olufemi Olugbenga, applauded Hon. ‘Dullar’ for the infrastructural development put in place in the community, noting that the council chairman has performed wonderfully well. Therefore, the residents need to reciprocate by paying their levies and rates to further achieve the target goals.
“He continued, “Don’t forget that these levies are redistributed into various projects to further assist the residents and so, the residents need to pay their levies and rates as at when due to support the government. The roads and other infrastructure provided are neither for the poor nor the rich and if all these are not captured in the next year’s budget, it means that we will not be able to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of the community we are serving”.
In the same vein, the Council Treasurer, Mr. Abayomi Odusanya in his contribution urged the residents to respond to the fees and rates in 2025 considering the physical infrastructure and other socio-economic empowerment which the chairman magnanimously provided to further consolidate his achievements in 2025.
“I’m making a passionate appeal to the residents of Somolu local government to respond pragmatically to the collection of fees and rates in 2025. At least, they can see all the physical structures put in place by the chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ so as to benefit massively from the dividend of democracy”.
Participants present at the retreat include the Vice-Chairman of Somolu LG (SLG); Hon. Adekunle Ekiyemi, the Secretary to the Local Government; Hon. Dele Afolabi, and while the Chief of Staff to the council Chairman; Hon. Folarin Olubiyi led other executive members, Mr. Abiodun Babinton led the Management team as Adebola Banjoko led-Revenue team also contributed to the deliberation to ensure comprehensive and functional 2025 budget.
The retreat was meticulously planned by the Department of Budget, Research, Planning and Statistics under the leadership of Hon. Abiodun Anjorin and HOD; Mr. Olufemi Giwa. The Coordinated efforts underscored the council’s commitment to impactful governance.
Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, however, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to progress and inclusivity. With input from all stakeholders, the 2025 budget promises to address the aspirations of Somolu residents while building on the council’s outstanding legacy of achievements.
