The Executive Chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ has finally relocated the popular Aladiye traders to the newly reconstructed Olaleye market to create room for a cleaner, safer, habitable, and viable economic atmosphere.
According to the Somolu LG Supervisor for the Environment, Hon. Nurudeen Ogunbadejo who disclosed this to Somolu Newspaper recently claimed that the relocation of the Aladiye traders became necessary to create room for a sustainable healthy environment as enshrined in Babajide Sanwo-Olu T.H.E.M.E+Plus agenda.
He continued, “The relocation of the traders is long overdue and since the Olaleye market has been completed, it became necessary for the local authority to move them to a safe place provided for them in the market to further create a viable economic atmosphere”.
“Hon. Dullar’ is taking necessary steps to ensure things are in their normal places and that’s exactly what we have just done with the relocation of the Aladiye traders”. He opined.
Hon. Ogunbadejo maintained that the continuous stay of the traders would not only constitute a nuisance in the area but cause unwholesome practice in the community.
Reacting to the relocation, the Iyaloja of Olaleye market, Chief Mrs. Adejoke Oyebode in her submission called for total relocation of the entire Guinea fowl traders stressing that the space created in the market must be occupied and that no single trader should left behind in the relocation exercise.
“I must commend the Executive Chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ for taking decisive action against the Elediye traders at the Onipanu area”.
“The space provided for them is still available unoccupied. They must be relocated into the market and anyone who goes against the law should dealt with to serve as a deterrent to others”.
The council boss in his closing remarks sounded a serious warning to anyone who disobeys the law of the land noting that the culprit will not go unpunished.
