The State Legislator representing Somolu Constituency 01 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Abimbola Orekoya, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the entire people of Somolu Federal Constituency and the beloved family of the late Hon. Oyewole Babafemi Diya, a former Honourable Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly for Somolu Constituency 02 and later a member of the Federal House of Representatives, who was recently reported deceased.
“Receiving the shocking news of the death of our progressive leader, Hon. Oyewole Babafemi Diya, was surprising and unexpected. His untimely departure is a great loss to all of us in Somolu Constituency 01 and Somolu Federal Constituency. However, we must acknowledge that death is inevitable,” Orekoya said.
In his further condolence message, the lawmaker described the late Hon. Wole Diya as a dedicated and good-natured public servant, whose contributions to the progress of Somolu Federal Constituency and the party at large were exceptional.
“During this period of sorrow, my thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones. May they find solace and strength in the cherished memories they hold of him.”
Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of the Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ in his condolences message expressed sadness over the sudden death of the Somolu Federal Constituency, Hon. Oluwole Babafemi Diya describing it as a dirty blow to the nation.
“With deepest sympathy, I also commiserate with the Somolu Federal Constituency and our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as we navigate this painful moment. We cannot question the Almighty GOD for His supreme authority over us, but we humbly seek His protection over our lives, His guidance in our affairs, and His intervention to avert further painful occurrences in our constituency,” he concluded.
“The news of the demise of our amiable leader, Hon. Oyewole Babafemi Diya, is a shocking one we are still viewing as a mirage. His passing leaves a deep void in our hearts and the fabric of our community. Hon. Diya was a perfect gentleman, a leader who exemplified humility, integrity, and unwavering dedication to the people he served”.
“During his time in office as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Somolu II, and later as a House of Representatives member for Somolu Federal Constituency, he left an indelible mark. His numerous humanitarian activities and initiatives were a testament to his commitment to improving the lives of others”.

Diya was more than just a political leader within the All Progressives Congress; he was a true champion of the people, always prioritizing the needs of his constituents and the community at large. His concern for the well-being of others set him apart as a leader of remarkable empathy and vision”.
