The 2024 World Youth Skills Day Celebration ends in grand style as NYCN Ikorodu North Branch commemorated the annual celebration with an impactful two (2) days of skills training for over 80 youths and young people within Ikorodu North LCDA.
The 2024 Youth Skills Day themed: Youth Skills for Peace and Development aimed at highlighting the importance of equipping youth with skills to build a peaceful and sustainable future.
NYCN Ikorodu North Branch having taken cognizance of the aforementioned and knowing fully well that incorporating skill-based learning enhances creativity saw the need to equip young people with comprehensive skill sets to shape their future by bringing on board well-seasoned trainers with an incalculable wealth of knowledge on AI and Data Analytics as well as Solar Energy from their respective field of industry.
The Skills training kick-started on Monday, 15th of July 2024, and ended on Thursday, 18th of July 2024.
On day 1, a renowned AI and Data Analytics expert in the person of Mr. Harrison Yakubu who resides in the Adamo axis of the IKORODU NORTH LCDA was brought on board to do justice to; Boost Your Income; Understand how to secure a well-paying remote/part-time jobs through professional context of AI and Data Analytics.
Day 2 had on board, a quintessential personality with vast experience and an expert in the field of Solar Energy from the Department of Physical Science at Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) Mr. Olumide Akasoro who did thorough Justice to; Energy Sustainability In The Society; the nitty-gritty of solar energy. Both the theoretical and practical part of Solar Energy was touched.
At the end of the two (2) days of training, eighty (80) participants were impacted, (Forty (40) from each training) were able to grasp and learn new skills and were exposed to new experiences through skills development, this will enable them to compete in this fast-moving and competitive world.
Present at the last day of the training was the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, BLDR. Adeola Adebisi Banjo who was ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ameen Apanishile.
The Vice Chairman applauded the Ikorodu North NYCN Executives for putting this impeccable skills training together within less than a month of being elected into office and said the Council Chairman is proud of them.
He also advises young people to make proper use of any great opportunities that come their way and advises participants to make adequate use of all the skills and lessons learned, urging them to give utmost cooperation to the youth council and continue to be good ambassadors of the LCDA.
Speaking on behalf of the Ikorodu North NYCN Executives, the Coordinator, Comrade Adewale Jackson Ayika expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the success of the World Youth Skills Day event, which happens to be the maiden event for the Youth of Ikorodu North, adding that he was more happier because the administration was not up to a month in office.
“I am overwhelmed by the turnout of participants and assiduous support of the entire youth groups in the LCDA, with this, they have motivated the Youth Council and we are so committed to doing more. I’m using this medium to appreciate our amiable LCDA Chairman, BLDR. Adeola Adebisi Banjo and his entire cabinet members for their relentless support and encouragement”.
“Special appreciation goes to our distinguished facilitators for their selfless sacrifices to impacting the Youth, to the entire Executives of the NYCN Ikorodu North Local Branch, and the entire WYSD project committee, I say thank you for your assiduous efforts and support towards putting this together in less than a few days of brainstorming”.
Jackson in his closing remarks prayed to God for more strength from above to be able to do more for the entire youth of Ikorodu North LCDA.
