In the heart of Somolu, a beacon of education and inspiration illuminated the community for decades. Mr. Adeniyi Olowolagba, a distinguished educationist and devout pastor affectionately known simply as ASKO, stood as a towering figure in the field of education, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
Born and raised in Somolu, he had his Nursery and Primary education at Army Children School, Morrocco, Somolu, Lagos and during this time, he lost his father at the age of 10. He became a father to his siblings and a breadwinner at a very tender age. He had his Secondary education at Eletu Edibo Secondary School, Abule-Ijesha, Yaba, Lagos, and finished in 1989. He later proceeded to the University of Lagos where he graduated with a degree in Pure and Applied Physics in 1995 and also bagged a Master’s degree in Geo Physics in 1998.
While in the University, he also had other professional certificates. He strived and sent his three siblings and other cousins to tertiary institutions by establishing different tutorial centers named ASKO Tutorial Center to make ends meet. He got married to his sweetheart, Oluwatosin on the 23rd of December, 2000, and the union was blessed with 4 (Four) Children; two male and two female.
In 2005, Niyi Olowolagba realized his vision by establishing Asko Model College in the Alagbado area of Lagos State, a testament to his dedication to educational excellence. As the proprietor, he poured his heart and soul into nurturing a generation of learners, instilling in them not only academic prowess but also values of integrity, resilience, and compassion. The late Olowolagba was an academician who could practically and literarily teach almost every subject from Physics, to Chemistry, to Accounting, to Literature and Commerce. He was truly a gifted man.
Under his visionary leadership, Asko Model College flourished, becoming a beacon of hope for students from diverse backgrounds. His commitment to holistic education ensured that his students not only excelled academically but also developed into well-rounded individuals poised to make meaningful contributions to society.
Beyond the confines of the classroom, Niyi Olowolagba was a mentor, a guide, and a friend to his students. He took a personal interest in their growth and development, offering support and encouragement every step of the way. His doors were always open, and his words of wisdom served as a guiding light for countless young minds.
Niyi Olowolagba’s impact extended far beyond the walls of Asko Model College. Niyi’s passion for community service led him to actively engage in pastoral work at the Redeem Christian Church of God. As a pastor, he ministered to the spiritual needs of his congregation, offering guidance, support, and hope to those in need. His sermons were not only inspirational but also deeply impactful, prompting many to reflect on their lives and embrace positive change.
However, on a somber note, the community recently mourned the loss of this educationist par excellence who died on Wednesday 27th March 2024 at the age of 52. Late Niyi Olowolagba’s sudden departure left a void that will be difficult to fill, but his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of those he inspired.
As the sun sets on Somolu, the legacy of Niyi Olowolagba continues to shine brightly, illuminating the path for future generations to follow. His unwavering dedication to education and his passion for uplifting others will forever be remembered as a testament to the power of one individual to make a difference in the world.

Through his exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication, and compassionate heart, the late Adeniyi Olowolagba has touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of hope, inspiration, and transformation.
