The serene environment of Bashua in the Somolu Local Government area of the state was not only spiritually filled but physically bombarded on Friday 7th March, 2024 as clerics, political stalwarts, and ethnic groups who converged at the new secretariat to offer a special prayer for the council chairman, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ and the residents respectively.
The gathering witnessed a huge exhibition of unity, appreciation, and celebration of the council chairman’s courageous efforts in elevating the status of Somolu through the construction of significant infrastructure which include the new Somolu Secretariat, Legislative complex, Fire service and police station to mention but few.
The prayer which was led by Sheik Biliyaminoon Dabiri, and other Islamic clerics delivered a powerful sermon emphasizing the importance of love and unity, especially when bestowed with Allah’s favour.
Sheik Dabiri, a prominent member of the Mufasir team at Somolu Central Mosque stressed Allah’s sovereignty in human affairs and offered prayers for Hon. Salawu’s leadership and the residents of Somolu in its entirety.
Similarly, Pastors from the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) led by Pastor Richard Mapayi interceded in prayer for the successful completion of Hon. Salawu’s commendable projects. Drawing inspiration from Psalm 127:1, Pastor Mapayi highlighted the necessity of divine guidance in all endeavours.
The well-attended prayer session which was orchestrated by the Somolu APC leaders including Apostle Peter Oyewusi, Alhaji Fatai Bakare (a.k.a Baba-Oba), and Hon. Ademola Adefalujo-Olisa saw the presence of esteem political figures like the immediate Council Chairman of the Somolu LGl; Hon. Olorogun Bagostowe, the former Sole Administrator of the Somolu LG; Hon. Bamidele Williams Lawanson, the Vice-Chairman of the Council; Hon. Adekunle Ekiyemi, and the Chairperson of the Council; Hon. Mr. Mariam Omotanwa Salau.
Others who also attended the session include the Leader of the Legislative Council; Hon. Yomi Oshunkoya, and his council while the Secretary to the Local Government Council; Hon. Dele Afolabi led the other Executive Council members in their active participation.
In conclusion, the Somolu All Progressive Congress (APC) members joined their leaders in presenting a specially designed appreciation card to the Agba-Akin of Agboyi Kingdom in recognition of his transformative leadership in repositioning Somolu as a vibrant business hub in Lagos State.
