The former Ogun State Commissioner for Finance and former Director-General of Land Bureau during Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s regime, Hon. Wale Osinowo has lost his aged mother, Alhaja Chief Mrs. Alimot Alake Osinowo who died on Wednesday 14th February 2024 at the age of 98 years.
According to one of the sons of the deceased, the younger brother to the Commissioner, and the Chairman of Abiodun/Abimbola CDA, Somolu, Lagos; Hon. Oluwatosin Osinowo revealed that his maternal mother, Alhaja Osinowo died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday and was buried the same day according to Islamic injunction.
Speaking to Somolu News, the All Progressive Congress (APC) stalwart popularly known in Somolu political space as ‘Shameh Bobo’ described his mother as a caring, hardworking, committed and wonderful woman of honour who cares so much about his children and family not leaving out daughters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He continued, “My mother, Alhaja Alimot Alake Osinowo is such a wonderful woman and caring mother who cares not only about her family but all those that cross her path irrespective of their colour or tribe. She’s a committed and devoted Muslim who understands the religion and follows it to the letter”.
“She’s an epitome of womanhood, a community leader who chose to serve her gender, and community wholeheartedly without any blemish and I won’t hesitate to call her ‘a great woman’. I will miss her dearly, rest in peace, Maami”.
Similarly, another son of the deceased and the Special Adviser to Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, the Somolu Council Chairman on Health, Hon. Oluyinka Koya-Sodipe, also described her as a mother in a million, a worthy woman of honour, a detribalised, jovial, and trusted mother whose love radiated around others.
“Alhaja is a true and beloved mother of many parts. A detribalised Amazon who cares about everyone who crossed her part. A devoted Muslim who always ensures things are done properly. She gave us the needed training and advice to us where and when necessary about life. I pray to Almighty Allah to grant her Aljanah Fridaus and forgive her shortcomings. Amin.
Her pivotal roles in religious and community development were never underestimated as they bestowed on her the ‘Iyasuna’ of Ogo-Oluwa Mosque, Akanni in Somolu local government of Lagos State as well as a chieftaincy title of ‘Yeye Oba of Idena, Iperu-Remo, Ogun state. The position she held and proved her mettle as a committed leader of people till her death.
Meanwhile, a condolence register has been opened in her honour as condolence messages have been pouring in from far and near since the announcement of her passage by friends, family and business associates which shows how she was loved and cherished by all and sundry.
However, the 8th Day Fridau prayer will be held for the ‘Yeye Oba of Idena’ on the 21st of February 2024 at her residence, Ilugoke Compund, Iperu-Remo, Ogun State.
