As part of the effort to enhance youths’ productivity in the area of Information technology, the Somolu local government in conjunction with Somolu Tech Innovation and Techsheperd has packaged A-4Day computer programmer tagged “ICT/TECH Skillshop slated for 26th-29th of February 2024 at No. 11, Isaac John Street, Fadeyi, Lagos.
According to the Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ on ICT, Hon. Kola Muhammed has hinted that the initiative was a buildup on the first edition to further incubate the Somolu youths in two special computer programmes which are UI/UX design and Front end Web Development which will further place them among the best when it comes to Tech-innovation.
He went further, “If you recall we held the first edition in November 2022 and it was a massive success and with this second edition, it’s a buildup upon the earlier edition to further give our youth the needed opportunity in the tech space. It’s a 4-day programme with a focus on two ICT skills which include UI/UX design and Front End Web Development”.
“We have a partnership with facilitators/tech teachers who will be taking them on various areas mentioned earlier for the period of 4 days while 10 selected participants will be offered scholarships and be tutored for another period of 3 months by the tech teachers in their chosen courses and this time around, we’re taking it to higher level and build young people especially in our local government to build their tech career/journey and take them to a point where they’ll see other opportunities and build upon it where and when necessary”.
“And with that, they can be self-sufficient technically and economically, look upon themselves as someone useful to the society and the country at large. We’re trying our own best within our local government to do this for the benefit of the teeming youths.
“We had a large turnout and the success recorded in the first edition encouraged us to look forward to a better success in the subsequent edition. We’ve seen that tech is the fourth generation of the next realm and looking at the way everything is being digitalized to make life easier and bring revenue to individuals and corporate organizations”.
“In the long run, we’re expecting the participants to remain focused and well see this as a great opportunity to make meaningful achievements as far as their tech career is concerned. If anyone is taking any course, it will not cost less than N250 and this is what the AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’-led administration is giving out free of charge”.
In his closing remarks, the tech guru and the coordinator of the Skillshop initiative, however, never hesitated to pour encomium on the executive Chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ for his visionary leadership and for making provision for the fund and ensure the initiative see the light of the day.
