2023 Snooker Tourney: Organizer holds draws, promises hitch-free and exciting tournament

The draw for the much anticipated 2023 edition of the Somolu Progressive Youth Snooker tournament was held on Saturday 21st October 2023 at 35, Okesuna Street, Somolu, Lagos with players, stakeholders, and supporters in attendance.

The organizer of the tournament, Mr. Malik Matti (3rd left) was flanked by players and lovers of the game during the last tournament in 2022.

According to the Organizer of the game, Mr. Malik Matti who revealed that this year’s game would be more exciting and classy as the tournament had more registered players who have signified their interest to participate in the tournament with many of them boasting to go for each other jugular for supremacy when the game start in earnest in the next coming weeks.

Matti, while addressing the players and the snooker fans used the opportunity to read out the rules of the game to forestall any form of crises that might arise during the game noting that the rules become necessary for a memorable and hitch-free tournament.

Meanwhile, Malik reiterated that organizing the game to discover snooker’s talents was his own way of giving back to society noting that the game will not only keep the youths off the street against drug abuse and other social vices but will also make them respectable personalities in the community, state, and Nigeria at large.

“I’m glad that the first edition was a huge success and I’m hopeful and believe this edition too will not be less than what we have in the last edition. We’re ready to make it a more glamorous sporting event sort of as we will not only continue to strive for more ways to make it exciting and memorable but to sustain and maintain the status quo .” He stated.

N50,000,00 has been earmarked for the champion of the tournament as the second winner settles for N30,000 while the third will get N20,000 for his effort respectively.

The convener, Malik Matti, however, thanked the community leaders, the stakeholders, the players, and all others for their unflinching support and prayed for more of such support in order to achieve the needed goal.
