The Chairman of Oluwalogbon Mosque in the Somolu local government area of the state, Alhaji Sakirudeen Omoware has reacted to the alleged anti-Islamic activity engaged by the Imam of the mosque, Sheikh AbdulGaniu Afolayan stressing that no man is immune to challenges in life.
Alhaji Omoware who spoke to Somolu News recently described the incident in the viral video where the Imam was spotted singing and praising a church Pastor as a misstep and unacceptable attitude that negated Islamic injunction resorting to being suspended by the Somolu Muslim Community for going overboard.
“In all honesty, there’s no man or woman that will not face one challenge or the other. No exemption whatsoever, everyone must taste challenge at every point of one’s life and there are consequences for whatever action taking either positive or negative which he knows as an Imam and Islamic scholar”.
“Even in the holy Quran, there are instances that are peculiar to what happened to him and I believe he should still remain firm with Almighty Allah, so I see what happened to him as one of the challenges from Almighty Allah and going astray shouldn’t be the option”. He posited.
However, the incident has become the talk of the town that brewed heated arguments and untold disaffection among the Muslim faithful in the Somolu community and beyond where some had been calling for his sack while others said he should be pardoned.
Consequently, the Somolu Muslim Community has requested the popular Islamic cleric to step aside temporarily from conducting compulsory daily congregational prayers as Imam, stop teaching young Muslim Ummah in Quranic lessons and as well as his usual Sunday Prayer Group session (AOFAT Perfection Int’l) where he’s the Chief Missioner, pending the time the suspension will be lifted.
