In an effort to improve the sporting activities and harness the budding talents in the Somolu community, the multiple award-winning Executive Chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ has thrown his weight behind the maiden edition of the Somolu Progressive Youth Snookers tournament put together by Mr. Malik Matti.
Speaking to the media men during the draws held on Thursday at the Agunbiade Table tennis indoor hall, Somolu, Lagos, the council boss, ‘Dullar’ who was represented by his Supervisor on Agric and Sports, Hon. Hector Ayo-Coker hinted that the stage was set for the re-awakening of sporting activities in the community noting that such a move will not only dampen the socio-vices that have plagued the community in the last couple of years but also bring out the best players as far as the game of snooker is concerned.
He went further, “We’re in support of this game, and permit me to let you also know that efforts are in top gear by AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’s led administration to ensure sports in Somolu regains its lost glory through sports summit scheduled to hold in the next few weeks with millstones achievement.” He narrated.
In the same vein, the sports-loving and Somolu APC Lagos House of Assembly candidate in the coming 2023 general election, Hon. Engr. Abiodun Orekoya was ably represented by his Campaign DG, Hon. Bowale Sosimi said Snookers is a game that has to do with mental alertness and that he’s ready to support them when and where necessary.
The week-long sporting event which paraded 54 players and their supporters across the 8 wards in the community also had top government functionaries, community leaders, businessmen, and women in attendance.
