Residents of Adifase in Bariga Local Development Area (LCDA) of the state were seen running for safety a few weeks ago after one of the communication networks burst into flames leaving the people in disarray.

According to the Secretary of Idera Community Development Association (CDA), Mr. Tunde Adebisi who spoke to our correspondent revealed that the pandemonium ensued when diesel reservoir meant for running the generating suddenly burst into a flame which made people start running for their life.

“At first, when I heard the noise, I thought it was a fight but by the time I saw some men carrying buckets of water rushing towards the MTN mast area, then I realized it wasn’t what I thought happened”.

“The men in the area and the whole of Hausa scrap traders joined in the efforts to put out the fire. All efforts to get firefighters for help did not yield any result until late minutes when the fire had been extinguished which almost resulted in them being mobbed by the area boys for coming late. It took the effort of the elders around who pacified the boys to allow them to do their bid”. He stated

Although, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report but the firefighters intensified effort to ensure the fire had truly been put out including the thorough assessment of the damages done by the fire incident.

Meanwhile, a reliable account has it that the MTN network fire incident was not the first time and it’s becoming rampant in recent times.
