An NGO, Atolowo Foundation (ATF), has distributed food items, cash, and clothing materials to over 350 widows, businesswomen, and indigent students across the Somolu Local Government Federal Constituency area of the state.
Speaking during the distribution of the items at the Banquet Hall Somolu local government, Mrs. Atinuke Olowo Rotimi, the Founder of Atolowo Foundation, said over 350 indigent widows had been impacted in Somolu federal constituency.
Atinuke explained further that the initiative was borne out of her passion to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable people especially widows in Somolu by putting a smile on their faces.
“The dream had been a long time coming, but we only physically started in 2019 at Ojo’s square. Due to the COVID- 19 pandemic ravaging the world in 2020, meeting physically was impossible but this didn’t stop us from working. We have been sending money through online platforms to meet the needs of our people. We pray that the good lord will put an end to this pandemic in Jesus name”.
“This year, we felt the need to come together just for a few hours to thank God for sparing our lives and also, to share the little gifts that we have for the widows and vulnerable”.
“This season, Atolowo foundation has decided to extend its touching lives projects to students in public schools. We will be awarding scholarships to some students in our public schools from primary to secondary schools. The scholarship will include expenses for books, uniform fees, and feeding. We have also decided to go into our market squares to check on mothers who are struggling to make ends meet. We will be supporting their businesses with little tokens”.
The philanthropist added that the NGO had recently empowered 10 pupils with scholarships while were settled with business grants ranging from N10,000 to N100,000 depending on their chosen businesses.
She reiterated her commitment that the outreach will continue to impact the lives of the less privileged people in society.
Atinuke added that the NGO had also awarded scholarships to indigent students, donated school uniforms, writing materials, and paid medical bills of some indigent patients worth over One million naira in 2020.
In his remarks, Pastor Ajayi, urged the parents of the pupils who benefitted from the scholarship scheme to ensure they support and monitor their wards while he commended the NGO for the gesture and urged the women to continually support and pray for its founder, Mrs. Atinuke Olowo Rotimi.
However, the traditional rulers in attendance jointly called on other well-to-do individuals in the area to emulate the same gesture by alleviating the suffering of the vulnerable people in the society.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Titilola Benson and Banke Balogun poured applauded the founder of the foundation and prayed to God to bless and protect her and her entire household.
In conclusion, Mrs. Atinuke Olowo Rotimi poured encomium on everyone who made contributions in one way on the other towards the program while she prayed to God to shoulder their responsibilities.
