It pains me to see youth going into social vices-Hon. Biodun Orekoya

The former Vice-Chairman and Executive Secretary of Somolu local government, Hon. Biodun Orekoya has revealed that seeing youth engaging in social vices remains a sharp pain in his heart and has reiterated his commitment towards ensuring he change the narrative through Orekoya Alliance Tournament (OAT) packaged Biodun Orekoya Foundation.

Speaking with Somolu news online shortly after the unveiling of the tournament a few weeks ago at the banquet hall of Somolu local government where he said the essence of the tournament was to harness the football talents that abound in the Somolu/Bariga community thereby keeping them off the street.

He continued, “It pains me to see young and energetic youths engaging in various social vices and that’s why I decided to put this sporting event together because they are our future”.

“Whether or not we like it, we’re leaving them behind and if we don’t care about them, then, it means we are preparing them for a doom”. He warned.

The organizer, however, said they will monitor the players in conjunction with Lagos State Sports Commission until they reach the global stage when they can beat their chest that they have truly achieved their dream goal in life.

Hon. Orekoya in his closing remarks poured encomium on the President of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Alabi Kolade David, Lagos State House of Assembly representing Somolu constituency I, Hon. Olowo Rotimi Emmanuel and Somolu Council Chairman, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ who are the tournament’s ambassadors for their unflinching supports.
