The campaign and support for the re-emergence of the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government who is also the Somolu Chairmanship candidate of APC in the forthcoming Local Government election, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu got a major boost today as The Association of Commodity Market Women and Men of Nigeria in Somolu threw their weight behind the re-election of the workaholic Chairman.
According to the Leadership of the association in Somolu who is the Iyaloja General, Chief (Mrs) Modupe Olufojude, they are in support of the re-election of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu to enable the Chairman continue his good work for the people of Somolu. She reemphasized it that the ruling party, All Progressives Congress is sincerely the party of the people at the grassroots.
Gathering at their association’s secretariat at Alarape Market in Bajulaiye area of Somolu, Chief Olufojude said the eight major markets in Somolu and their leaders are represented at the meeting where it is important for their members and stakeholders to speak with one voice in support of the Council Chairman who took it upon himself to feed widows and the elderly people in Somolu on a monthly basis.
Traders with their leaders and chiefs from Alade Market, Alarape Market, Alasela Market, Somolu Model Market, Olaleye Market, Hassan Market, Oyediran Market, and Sunday Market filled up the secretariat with the enthusiasm for ‘Salawu Dullar’, as they kept on chanting his praises. They said the Chairman has done more than his predecessors in terms of construction and repairs of roads, educational support programmes, and social welfare for the elderly people.
According to Hon. Y.A. Bashir, Babaloja General of Somolu Markets, the Chairman of Somolu Local Government has empowered many entrepreneurs in Somolu as he has really also made politics more interesting and convincing for youths to take as their vocation. Hon. Bashir, a septuagenarian who was at sometimes a councilor in the Somolu Legislative Council said Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has transformed Somolu beyond expectations, considering the recent infrastructural development in Africa’s largest printing hub.
Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba traders also came out in their large numbers to pledge their support for the Chairman as they said they really admired the unbiased empowerment programs of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu who usually treated everyone with love. “Alhaji Dullar is always giving us, and he also shares empowerments and food programs to accommodate Igbo and Hausa people within Somolu”, Alhaji Gbadamosi said.
