The Executive Chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ has commended his teeming supporters and party loyalists for their calmness despite provocations and attacks from the adverse party.
The council boss, however, has made a passionate appeal to a warring faction to sheath their swords and stop vandalizing properties while urging party loyalists and supporters to remain resolute and unswerving no matter what may come their way.
The political crises brewed after the Somolu local primary elections were cancelled owing to provocations and attacks when supporters loyal to the adverse party threw caution into the wind, thereby sending the electorate scampering for safety in some of the wards in the community.
Several properties worth Millions of Naira belonging to leaders and followers loyal to the Somolu council Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ were destroyed not leaving out the Somolu APC party secretariat and Somolu local council while some were severely beating to a pulp.
Although, no life has been reported lost since the crisis began a few days ago but the peaceful atmosphere has been punctuated with a series of provocations and attacks, leaving the people with constant fears and anxiety.
Meanwhile, Hon. Dullar’ enjoined the youths in the community to shun violence, embrace peace and dialogue in order for the community to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy as enshrined in the agenda of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’.
“I’m appealing to party-men and loyalists to remain calm desist from vandalization, destruction of properties, and all sorts of molestation of the people of Somolu community” he stated.
