COVID-19: Somolu LG Chairman ‘DULLAR’ commences decontamination of schools

As part of his efforts to combat the nobel Coronavirus ravaging communities worldwide, the Council Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has commenced the decontamination process of public places in his area.

Decontaminating public places including government-owned primary and secondary schools, police stations, and markets, is part of measures taken by Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu led the administration of Somolu Local Government during the first wave of the killer Coronavirus, last year.

According to Sanitarian Adekunle A.A. (HoD, Environment of Somolu LG), the Chairman had engaged a team of certified professional fumigators to join the council’s environmental team to decontaminate the over 20 public primary and secondary schools as well as the Bashua Police Post.

Recalled that the Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu led administration of Somolu Local Government decontaminated the markets, police stations, bus stops and schools in Somolu at the wake of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

 

Among the public places decontaminated in Somolu this weekend include St. Augustine, St. Peter, St. Paul, Jehovah Shalom and Bashua Military Primary Schools as well as Morocco Comprehensive Junior Secondary School. Alarape, Alasela, Hassan, Oyediran and Somolu Modern Markets were also disinfected, including Abraham Adesanya Shopping Complex and Ajegboro Motor Park at Onipanu.

On his part, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu revealed that apart from his efforts in combating flood by clearing drainage systems in the area, hand sanitizers and face masks were shared during the pandemic lockdown as food items were also shared among the residents of Somolu.

He stated further that his administration is prioritizing schools to prevent outbreak of Covid-19 among students, teachers and other staff members of schools in Somolu. He also noted that parents should cooperate with teachers and government in ensuring their children are safe in all ramifications.
