The 2019/2020 Lagos State Youth Ambassadors under the auspices of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, has organized an Achievers Awards to celebrate, motivate and honour outstanding young persons in Lagos who has performed outstandingly amongst the ambassadors in the 2019/2020 IBILE Youth Academy Ambassadorial Tenure, the award ceremony happened at Onikan Youth Centre of Lagos on Saturday, 28th of November 2020.
Ikorodu Division having been led by a servant leader, who is Industrious in nature and committed to progressiveness, in the person of AMB. Jackson Adewale Ayika, who has performed outstandingly and shown exemplary leadership by leading the Ikorodu ambassadors for the year 2019/2020 ambassadorial tenure to coming out outstandingly thereby got recognized and certified by the Lagos State Government as the Most Outstanding Division in Lagos State for this year IBILE Youth Academy.
Ikorodu Division has exhibited high morals and standards, as they have risen to surpass all other divisions in the state for this current Lagos state youth ambassadorial tenure.
In the cause of evaluation, the speed and consistencies were shown by Ikorodu division over the execution of impactful projects and programs cannot be underestimated, the ambassadors did their feasibility studies well as to what issues is affecting their division and indeed they moved in that direction, they started precisely December 2019 with SDGs ACTIVATION PROJECT across all the LCDA’s and CDA’s in Ikorodu division. Thereafter progressing into YOUTH DIALOGUE with all the youth-led organizations and NGO’s in the division so as to foster a better and long-lasting relationship with the existing organizations in the division and to collectively draft out further problems of the division and also proffer sustainable solutions to them.
The youth dialogue however gave birth to a secondary school outreach tagged, RISK EMBEDDED IN LIVING DANGEROUSLY where cultism, hooliganism, examination malpractice, indecent dressing, prostitution, and all other means of perilous living were the focus of the discussion, about 90% of the secondary schools in Ikorodu were touched, as the project lasted for two months, this was achieved through partnership with NGO’s, relevant youth organization and patriotic individuals in the division, ranging from; Milecent Foundation, Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative, Ikorodu Ambassador’s Group, Imota, Igbogbo, Ijede, Laspotech Students Union, Ikorodu News Network, Impact News Paper, and many others.
After that, they embarked on an ENABLE MASTER CLASS, a Webinar initiated to engage the youth on soft skills and professional made easy skills with a topic like Digital Marketing, Graphics Design, How to create a good business plan, Good manners, etiquette, and social skills, over 250 youth in Ikorodu and by extension other division in Lagos state benefitted from the class.
Shortly after that, they organized a MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN in partnership with JCI Nigeria Yaba College of Technology, so as to lend a voice to mental illness, over 1000 youth join the campaign and supported the Ikorodu division Ambassador’s to indeed lend a voice to the depressed and those with mental health issues.
Not long after, the Ikorodu division Ambassador’s initiated a LEARN WITH BOOK PROJECT in partnership with Radiance niche, to donate writing materials to children in Ikorodu so as to keep the children abreast of their studies while the Covid 19 pandemic began to make learning difficult, virtually all the slum in Ikorodu was reached as over 5,000 children got the writing materials.
Jackson being the Ikorodu Divisional Youth Ambassador, when in an interview with Somolu News Paper said, indeed this award and recognition for Ikorodu Division is truly well deserved as an incalculable effort was put in since December 2019 by the Ambassadorial Team consisting of just 10 (Ten) Ambassadors, who named themselves (Team Formidable) so as to ensure the Ikorodu Flag continues to be raised high, I appreciate my Formidable Team for their relentless effort in making us achieve our set goals even when the Covid 19 Pandemic almost made it impossible and I dedicate this award of outstanding to all of you…we all made this possible.
