Somolu LG Chairman ‘Dullar’ begins clearing of drainages to combat flood

In furtherance to the proactive measures put in place by the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu to combat the issues of flooding in some flood-prone areas of Somolu community.

The Chairman has embarked on further widening of drainages at Elediye and Sunday Street, in ensuring appropriate flow of water within the channels and making the roads to be motorable.

As part of the plans made to achieve the avowed intents, as been done in other areas in the community, the drainage channels were also been expanded to make the pathway big enough for ease of waterflow.

Among other areas in which the same process was carried out relentlessly to combat flood, as supervised by Hon. Muse Bakare (Supervisor for Environmental Health Services) include Oguntolu, Apata, Morocco and Bajulaiye roads.

Meanwhile the tremendous impacts of Comrade Oluwarotimi Oluyede (Special Adviser on Environment Health Services) through the Sanitarian Adekunle A.A. led Environmental Health Services Department were convincingly crucial as evinced to tackle the drainage challenges.

However, Sanitarian Adekunle A.A. has vowed not to relent on prosecuting environmental defaulters who are not disposing their refuse properly, having their septic tank leaking or engaging in activities blocking drainages. “Our officers and prosecutor are on top of their job and we are ready to prosecute anyone found wanting as the Chairman is also frowning at environmental defaulters too”, Adekunle said.

Moreover, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has charged the Supervisor for Works and Infrastructure, Alhaji Kabir Raji, to ensure that the ongoing construction on Efon Alaye, Ajose, Ogatimirin, Bashua and Adebayo roads are promptly delivered with high standard as soon as the rain subdue.
