As part of their efforts in combatting crime and insecurity in Somolu Local Government Area, the duo of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu (Executive Chairman) and Lagos State House of Assembly Member (Somolu 1), Hon. Rotimi Olowo has started identifying streets to be illuminated at night.
In the company of Hon. Williams Lawanson (Former Sole Administrator of Somolu LG), the Council Mayor and the veteran Legislator charged residents of Somolu to be security conscious. They inspected the street lights and power generator of Sholanke Street in Akoka-Igbari area of Somolu. They also commiserate with the people of Akoka-Igbari community on the issue of security challenges which occurred a few days ago as vandals invaded the area, carting vehicle essential parts from the area.
Prior to the inspection by the trio of Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, Hon. Rotimi Olowo and Hon. Williams Lawson, the technical team from Lagos State Electricity Board were on Sholanke Street to examine the state of the power generator and street light bulbs following the official action from the ‘Save Our Soul’ letter to the state board by Hon. Rotimi Olowo and Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu.
Moreover, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, hon. Rotimi Olowo and Hon. Williams Lawanson also visited Fadipe Street at Orile Somolu area where they also inspect the generator and street lights. According to Hon. Rotimi Olowo, the same measures in ensuring Sholanke is illuminated will be taken on Fadipe Street to ensure the safety of lives and properties.
However, the public office holders called on security agencies in Somolu to be more proactive and responsive when they are called upon to help the communities in combatting crime.
