Players and Coaches of NPFL side, Dakkada FC, were in a jubilant mood, Tuesday, as their May salaries were not only paid in full but they also carted home a part of their salary arrears from previous months.
Akwa Ibom State’s sports-loving Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, extended financial support to the club through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Speaking to the club’s media department, Tuesday, the Chairman of the club, Coach Aniedi Dickson, expressed gratitude to the Governor and extolled the kind virtues of the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Uko.
“It beats the imagination of economists and football followers how the Governor was able to come through with adequate funds to foot the club’s bills especially during these financially harsh times”, Mr Dickson added.
Some of the physically elated players who also spoke and expressed appreciation to the Governor include Femi Ajayi, Harrison Ibukun and Ibrahim Abiola.
Dakkada was placed eighth on NPFL’s 20-team log before the global Covid-19 pandemic brought the league to an abrupt halt.
