A non-governmental group in Somolu Local Government area known for charity donations and community volunteering known as Team Dullar.
Team Dullar, which is a coalition of a friend of the Mayor of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, home and abroad, gifted out Ramadan package to widows from all the eight major areas in Somolu.
The widows who came for the package were socially distanced to each other to comply with the government’s policy to curb the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus in communities.
While disbursing the cash and palm oil, Alhaji Hakeem Anifowoshe, said it is another dimension of the group to touch people directly with the gift and the decision to start with aged widows due to the special preference the Mayor of Somolu have the aged people.
Hon. Ayodele Afolabi (Chief of Staff) and Alhaji Kabir Raji (Supervisor for Works & Infrastructure) were also part of the sharing to the widow. A white envelope with the inscription ‘Ramadan Kareem (COVID-19) Package’ was received by each of the aged widows.
According to one of the beneficiaries, Alhaja Mulikat Jimoh, the cash and palm oil will go a long way, “the Chairman has given us rice, bean with garri, this cash and palm oil just completed it, may Allah bless Dullar and his team”, the octogenarian said.
Recall that this same Team Dullar had painted the walls of Somolu General Hospital, constructed a canopy at Akinwunmi Ambode Primary Healthcare Center and also purchase steel chairs for patients waiting to see the doctor at the same PHC. Recently, the team also purchased JAMB/UTME and GCE (WEAC) forms for indigent students whose parent can’t afford the forms in Somolu.
According to Alhaji Kabir Raji, the group was created to before the emergence of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu as the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government. “We have been contributing to the development of Somolu and we will continue doing more to complement the giant strides of the Mayor as our motive is to male sure his government succeeds”, he said.
