Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos will be agog as students, teachers, Parents and guidance not leaving out sports-loving guests will be in attendance when MIMS group of schools hold its 6th edition of inter-house sports billed for 19th March 2020.
The one-day epoch-making events which will no doubt parade about 30 invited schools from in and around Lagos metropolis who’ll be coming to wrestle for honours at the tournament.
According to the Director of Administration of the school, Mr Afenfere Ismail who revealed that the essence of the sporting events is to increase their self-esteem and mental alertness to bring the best out of the students as far as sports is concerned.
“Having trained them well in the four walls of classroom academically, we felt it’s Ideal to complete the job with extracurricular activities which is psychomotor as embedded in the Lagos state curricular and that’s number one reason we are putting up the event”.
He stated further, “discovering sporting talents who will not only represent our schools (MIMS) but also represent and bring pride and honours to Lagos and Nigeria as a whole in the sporting arena”.
“For instance, we have 3 athletes who are doing us proud in the area of table tennis and athletics and we are working assiduously to add more to the number”. said Afenifere
“Just recently, one of the athletes, Surmer Balkis proved her worth when she represented the school in the last quarter of the year 2019 at Somolu Under 16 Table-Tennis championship winning the prize and trophy meant for the championship in the female category and I think it’s a wonderful thing to have such athlete doing the school proud”.
“This we see as a big plus for us at MIMS and definitely, such will continue to bring goodwill and some other positive memories”.
Meanwhile, Mr Afenifere in his submission urged the parents and guidance to encourage their wards to engage in sporting activities which will go a long way in not only keeping them in a good frame of mind but also serves means to an end.
