– Offers assistance to Support Okada reforms in Somolu
The lawmaker representing Somolu Constituency1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Olowo Rotimi Emmanuel has waded into the incessant arrest of Motorcycle popularly known as Okada across Somolu by the officials of Lagos State Taskforce.
The Okada riders took to the Somolu streets this evening to protest against the continuous arrest of their motorcycles and it riders despite the fact that Somolu was not part of the local government restricted by the Lagos State government for motorcycle operations.
The frustrated riders who in the course of their protest met with Hon. Olowo and narrated how the officials of the Taskforce stormed their parks and carted away their motorcycles this evening with their riders.
Hon. Olowo in his response assured the victims of the seized motorcycles of his readiness to claim back their motorcycles provided they have the necessary documents to back it.
He admonished each Okada rider to registered their motorcycle with their details to each unit they belong for proper documentation as the only way to regulate their business and as well to curtails the unnecessary carting away of their motorcycles.
While appealing to the protesters to remain calm, he promised to personally fund all their reflective jackets and to see to their registration as a way to stop any further harassment.
The leader of the Somolu Legislative Arm, Hon. Yomi Osunkoya, the Supervisor for Agric, Sport and Social Development, Hon. Adewale Oseni, the Personal Assistant to LAHA Member, Mr Dayo Saula were present during the meeting.
Others were the executives of each Motorcycle branches in Somolu.
