The Executive Chairperson Iba LCDA Princess Ramota Oseni-Adedayo on Tuesday was presented with the Lagos Panorama SDG Grassroots Award. The award presentation conducted by the Publisher/Editor of Lagos Panorama Comrade Tayo Aderinola supported by Secretary Iba Community Development Committee Dr Agbogunlori in the Chairman’s office.
In his remark before the presentation, the President of the Community Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria stated that the essence of the award is to promote the Sustainable Development Goals in the grassroots administration.
Aderinola noted that “our editorial board in acknowledgement of the multi-faceted achievements of the 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Lagos State created in the year 2003 by the visionary leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, resolved to spotlight 10 LOCAL GOVERNMENTS with outstanding performance in achieving Sustainable Development Goals in the last 2 years of local government administration in Lagos State”.
The Lagos Panorama helmsman stated that the Lagos Panorama Sustainable Development Goals Grassroots Awards is to identify truly meaningful grassroots developmental efforts by persons, Local governments, non-profit organizations and companies. The categorization of these awards will be in accordance with the development indices of universal acceptance”.
“These awards are intended to motivate and spur grassroots development through a contribution from all spheres and subsequent edition from 2020 nominees will be nominated by their respective Community Development Committee (CDC) and voting shall be done by the Community Development Associations across the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas”.
The Executive Chairperson of Iba LCDA Hon Ramota Oseni-Adedayo expressed her profound appreciation to Lagos Panorama for the evaluation and recognition of her efforts towards the development of Sustainable Development Goals projects in her LCDA.
She stated that “before now we face challenges of insufficient funds to implement most of our projects but now with the financial autonomy of the local government council we now have an allocation that can sufficiently enable us to implement our desired sustainable development goal projects to the betterment of our people. The Lagos Panorama SDG Grassroots Award will definitely spur us to be more focus in achieving more Sustainable Development Goals” she asserted.
The Information Officer Femi Jokotoye in the vote of thanks stated that “I do like to thank the Lagos Panorama Crew for the assessment and evaluation of our administration and for making it a day with us to honour the Executive Chairman of Iba for efforts put in place to positively impact the lives of people of Iba LCDA through various Sustainable Development Goal Projects”.
“We thank God that thus far we’ve been able to do the best with his enablement. We pray and looking forward to winning more”.
