Mrs Maryam Owolabi-Bada commended the newly elected UK Prime Minister, Mr Boris Johnson for appointing Nigeria Born Olufunto Badenoch as member of his cabinet.
Bada, a Lagos House of Assembly aspirant and staunch member of All Progressive Congress (APC) in a press release said she was elated to hear the good news about the appointment and wish to see more of such development where Nigerians especially the womenfolk are making A-list in leadership roles and some other area of human endeavours both in Nigeria and the world at large.
“I rejoice and celebrate with Mrs Olufunto Badench for wonderful and great achievement and commended Mr Boris Johnson for appointing a British citizen of Nigeria heritage as a minister in his government”.
She adds “There’s no doubt about the fact that Mr Boris Johnson has a lot teach the world having an average age of 47 which proves to be the youngest ever cabinet”.
“It is also a gender-sensitive administration with 24% female representation which makes his entire government and a well-represented one and testimony of all-inclusive government”.
Mrs Olufunto was appointed into the new cabinet of Boris Johnson under the Secretary of State as Minister for children and families.
Badenoch is a British Conservative politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for Saffron Walden.
Tweeting about her appointment, Badenoch @KemiBadenoch posted on 29 July: “Thank you for all good wishes and kind messages of support received. I also look forward to working not just with @Conservatives colleagues but cross-party and grateful for the warm welcome from @TracyBrabin and @Steve ReedMP who no doubt will be keeping me on my toes!”
The minister’s responsibilities include early years policy, including inspection and regulation.
Her portfolio includes delivery of 30 hours free childcare offer, special educational needs including high needs funding, safeguarding in schools and disadvantaged pupils – including pupil premium and pupil premium plus.
