50th Asoju-Oba T’Tennis Championship: Sisters, Semilore, Fikayo Bada debuted in grand style

New table tennis heroines, Oluwasemilore and Oluwafikayomi Owolabi-Bada made their entry into the game of Table tennis in grand style at the 50th edition of annual Asoju-Oba Table tennis championship which commenced on 26th and ended on 30th of November 2018 at the prestigious hall of Sir Molade Okoya Thomas, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The duo who exhibited the stuff they were made of at championship proved that they can compete favourably with their counterparts whenever and wherever the need be and promised to be more committed to training not
leaving out their academic pursuit so as to acquire enough skills as well as academic excellence to be the best.

“To me, Table tennis is a game that I love so much and I’ll do all I can to ensure I achieve my target goal as far as the game is concerned. I want to be a world beater like Bose Kaffo and Funke Oshonaike, Olaide Atinuke,
Tolu Etti, Bose Odusanya and many top class female players who have made their states and fatherland, Nigeria proud”. stated Semilore

Fikayo also in the same vein said she would not rely on her oars as she was ready to take the bull by the horn by doing the needful at the right time.

“I know I have to train and hard for me to meet up with my target goal in life and so, from now, I have started dreaming big to achieve the greatness I desire in life”. opined Fikayo

Semilore (12) and her sister, Fikayo (10) joined the league of table tennis players in training in February 16th 2018 at Rowe Park,Yaba where they train on a weekly basis under the state coaches.

The Bada sisters are students of Eva Adelaja Senior and Junior Secondary school, Bariga Lagos who made their school proud at the championship making it to Semi-finals in the Cadet Girls Doubles losing to Afolabi Waliat and Aishat Adewale who made it to final of the game.

Meanwhile, in the Girls Mix-Doubles, they both lost out in the Quarter-finals while Semilore made it to the finals in Girls Singles in both cadet and Junior.
