Somolu All Progressive Congress (APC) has on Saturday 5th October 2019 lost one of its staunch member and Apex Woman leader, Alhaja Mrs Sidikat Amope Salvage Oloyede who died at the ripe age of 87 years.
According to one of the children of the deceased who spoke to our correspondent said Alhaja breath her last around 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon and will be buried according to Islamic rite on Sunday 6th October 2019.
Mrs. Ibukun Ayodele described her mother as epitome of womanhood, a Kind, caring mother and an astute politician who put the party interest first and always carries her women folks along at any given time.
The endless bursts of ovation, tribute and adulation that has continued to trail her transition is a testament to the fact that Alhaja Salvage Oloyede was indeed exemplary and she distinctly raised the bar of good leadership among her subjects.
“I can vividly recall with great nostalgia and affection of how my mother, Alhaja Amope Salvage Oloyede contributed enormously and immensely well to the giant strides attained by Somolu All Progressive Congress over the years. She demonstrated strong character, leadership and candour. She epitomised all these and more. People could always go to her as she was very kind and accommodating. I can tell you that Somolu community has not only lost a mother-figure but also a woman filled with rich political history and character”. she noted
“Alhaja was a woman with great charisma but she never abused the power she wielded. Her sterling and enviable qualities were simply unrivalled even as a complete woman with great finesse. Alhaja Salvage’s humility knew no bounds, she was loaded with a great sense of humour and sense of sound judgement.
Alhaja Salvage started her political career right from Lagos Island, Isale Eko to be precise during the second republic and was a member of Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) headed by Chief Obafemi Awolowo and made it through to Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC) and now All Progressive Congress (APC).
Alhaja Mrs Sidikat Amope Salvage Oloyede is survived by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
