Ifelodun LCDA boss resumes massive desilting of drainage across his council to prevent flooding

The award-winning Ifelodun LCDA Council Boss, Hon. Shuaib Fatai Ajidagba [Ajifat] has in this year resumed massive desilting of drains to prevent flood in Ifelodun as the raining season is fast approaching.

The Council Boss who spoke through his spokesman, Ifeanyi JP said that the Department of Environmental Services will also embark on massive public enlightenment campaign to educate the people on what they should do to reduce the incidence of flooding and enhance public safety.

He urged the residents to cooperate with his administration in its concerted effort to fight the flood, by properly disposing of their waste by patronizing registered PSP operators who will take it to a designated site. He also prods them to desist from dumping refuse into drains as well as refrain from erecting structures along drain channels. He further said that as a responsible and proactive government, the time to act and commence serious work is now.

This morning, the Department of Environmental Services has accordingly commenced the desilting of drains. According to the HOD Environment, Sanitarian Anifowoshe Rachael Oluwafunmilayo, the opening of slaps and desilting of drains has started this in Odofin Street, opposite Oja Bus Stop. She also stated that other areas will follow suit.
