The President of the Nigerian Aquatics Federation (NAqF), Chamberlain Dunkwu, has passed away at the age of 54.
Dunkwu was reported to have collapsed and died at his home on March 7, 2026, just hours after breaking the evening fast (Iftar) with the speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and other colleagues.
According to Abbas, Dunkwu was ‘a dependable ally, a loyal friend, and a man who served with uncommon dedication and commitment.’
“I received the shocking news of the passing of my Deputy Chief of Staff (legislative), Dr Dunkwu Chamberlain Nnamdi, in the early hours. His sudden departure has left me heartbroken and struggling to come to terms with this devastating loss. Only a few hours before his passing, he was full of life as he joined colleagues and me at the breaking of fast on Friday evening. That memory now makes this loss even more difficult to comprehend. This is truly one death too many,” he said.
He praised Dunkwu’s service to humanity, his diligence, humility, and sense of responsibility.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. May the Almighty God grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and grant Dunkwu eternal rest,”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) also mourned the death of Dunkwu, a highly respected party chieftain.
The party noted the deceased’s significant contribution to building and strengthening the party in the Ika Federal Constituency, Delta State, and beyond.
“Dunkwu lived a vibrant life of service and philanthropy that touched many within and beyond his homeland. His exit has created a yawning void that will be difficult to fill. Our party prays God to grant his immediate family the fortitude to bear this huge loss,” the party said.
