Somolu LG Chairman, Ashimi, rallies NURTW, CDC/CDAs to boost APC E-membership registration

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, on Tuesday held a strategic engagement with the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Administrative Building.

During the session, which featured the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Hassan Ojomu, the Chairman called on the union leadership to exercise their influence by encouraging members to participate rigorously in the ongoing APC E-Membership Registration. He urged them to collaborate closely with designated registrars to ensure a seamless registration process beyond their respective bases.

Supporting the Chairman’s appeal, Pastor Ademola Adefalujo Olisa and Hon. Femi Taiwo emphasised the vital role the NURTW plays within the Somolu community and the importance of immediate action on the registration exercise.

In response, Comrade Ibrahim Adeyeye assured the Chairman of the union’s full compliance. He noted that reinforcing synergy between the union and the local government is essential for reciprocating leadership values and fostering community growth.

In a separate meeting, Chairman Ashimi engaged the Executives of the Community Development Council (CDC), led by Alhaji Tella Tajudeen, and the Chairmen of various Community Development Areas (CDAs).

During the discussion, it was revealed that the Council leadership has expanded its community outreach beyond the 20 designated party registration venues.

To further support residents, the Council has embarked on plans to ensure free National Identification Number (NIN) registration centres across all wards, complemented by ongoing advocacy for voter registration.

Members of the CDC/CDA team contributed valuable insights during the session, proposing streamlined methods to improve accessibility and boost the mobilisation of new applicants throughout the local government area.
