Somolu APC political stalwart and former Ward E Councillor, Hon. Koya Olayinka-Sodipe, loses son

Somolu has been thrown into mourning as the family of former Ward E Councillor, Hon. Koya Olayinka-Sodipe, mourns the tragic loss of his son, Oluwadamilare Koya-Sodipe, who passed away on Saturday, 13th December 2025.

The revered young poet and author was reported to have died alongside one other friend following the injury sustained in a ghastly motor accident that occurred along Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway, leaving friends and families in mourning moods.

Family members, friends, and community residents have described the development as heartbreaking and devastating for the immediate family and the community he served.

The late son of the former councillor, a final year student of Lagos State University of Technology (LASUTECH), Ikorodu, Lagos, was known to many for his amiable personality, brilliant, easygoing and respectful man who has so much to offer his generation and those coming behind him.

Leaders from the local council and political associates have begun visiting the bereaved family to offer condolences and support during this difficult time, while their social media platforms are flooded with condolences, prayers and words of encouragement.

Community members have prayed for strength and comfort for the Koya family as they come to terms with this irreparable loss.
