Relief: Somolu LG Chairman ‘Dullar’ set to splash N50million on petty traders

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar,’ is preparing to launch the fourth edition of his administration’s cash intervention palliatives, aimed at supporting the most vulnerable residents of Somolu. This initiative has become a key feature of his leadership, designed to provide much-needed financial assistance to those struggling within the community.
In the previous three editions, 3,000 residents of Somolu received N20,000 each, irrespective of their political or religious affiliations. This inclusive approach has been widely praised for its fairness and focus on those in need. As the fourth edition approaches, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ is expanding his efforts to reach even more people.
This week’s rollout will target 1,000 petty traders who both reside and conduct their business within Somolu. Each beneficiary will receive a N50,000 grant, with the Chairman intending to inject a total of N50 million into the local economy. This initiative is part of his broader strategy to strengthen the economic base of the community and empower small business owners.
The Council’s Chairman disclosed that data on the petty traders were meticulously collected and scrutinized by the Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA), led by Comrade Isiak Buna. This process ensures that the funds are distributed to those who truly need them, enhancing the program’s effectiveness.
Hon. Salawu also took the opportunity to commend Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat for their continued dedication to sustaining and advancing the legacies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos State. Their leadership has been instrumental in supporting initiatives like this, aimed at uplifting communities and driving economic growth.
