What a sad day: Two LAWMA sweepers crush to death in Lagos

Blood sisters, Mrs. Folashade Odufuwa and her sister who works as Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) sweepers were reportedly crushed to death by a commercial bus popularly known as Danfo in the early hours of Monday 14th November 2023 while they were busy doing their daily routine.

The incident which happened along the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway when a commercial bus was reported to have lost control after being chased by LASTMA officials whom they alleged to have contravened the law which resulted in loss of lives.

The driver, who fled after the accident, was alleged to have been evading arrest by officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) when he rammed into the road sweepers.

Although the state Ministry of Transportation confirmed the death of the two road sweepers, it denied that the driver was chased by LASTMA officers when the unfortunate incident happened.

The ministry said investigation has been launched into the incident and those found culpable would be brought to book.

It was a gory scene that sent shivers down the spine of sympathizers who rushed to the scene to give a helping hand only to discover they had already passed away as their heads were badly crushed beyond recognition.

Their remains have been deposited at the IDH pending the time the family members will remove them for final burial services.

Meanwhile, friends and relatives have been thronging the residents of the deceased family to sympathize with them over the loss of their loved ones.
