Following the declaration of zero tolerance to environmental nuisance in Lagos State by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has applauded the workaholic Governor for taking another bolder step towards the achievement of a #greaterlagos.
The Executive Chairman cited the strict warnings Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave the People causing environmental nuisance in Mile 2 and other areas along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The council’s helmsman stated this on Saturday in a meeting he held with the Chairman of the Somolu Community Development Committee, Alhaji Tajudeen Tella.
According to Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, more and stricter enforcement measures must be carried out by all tiers of government, including the CDCs and CDAs in all areas, as this is the time when the environment must be protected by the residents.
The Numero Uno of Somolu Local Government added that the decision of the Governor to resuscitate the monthly environmental sanitation exercise within the state is a laudable one as many residents of Lagos State have shunned the exercise due to the relaxed restriction of movement by the state government.
However, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has vowed to follow suit on the state government’s further directive at his local government. He stated that a special Environmental Health Services Task Force will be created for the people of Somolu Local Government.
He added that Environmental Health is an area that the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu-led administration of Lagos State will not take with levity as it is conspicuously represented in the T.H.E.M.E.S. project of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu as new cerebral Lagos State Commissioner of Environment, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab.
