NEW ISLAMIC YEAR: Ashimi urges Somolu Muslim faithful to embrace peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance

As the dawn of the New Islamic Calendar (Hijrah 1448 A.H.) commences with the holy month of Muharram, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has heartily joined the Muslim faithful across the community in welcoming this sacred season of reflection and renewal.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman emphasised that this New Year offers everyone a unique privilege to correct past wrongs, champion what is right, and consciously avoid actions that could burn the bridges of togetherness tirelessly built for grassroots development.

According to him, “It is paramount that we continue to foster deep religious tolerance among all faiths. We must unapologetically create space for peaceful coexistence, as this remains the bedrock for the stability, progress, and greater values of the Somolu community at large,” he said.

Praying for the community, the Council Chairman expressed his hope that the new year brings immense blessings, peace, and prosperity to every home and throughout the local government area.

Happy Islamic New Year.
