From Somolu to State House: Somolu Council Chairman hails First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu at 59

In a goodwill message issued on Thursday, Ashimi said the birthday celebration transcends the marking of age, noting that it is a tribute to a life devoted to service, compassion, and people-centred leadership. He said the First Lady’s journey from Somolu to the seat of power in Alausa remains a source of pride to the community.

According to him, the celebrant has distinguished herself as the Chairperson of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), where she has transformed the platform into a formidable vehicle for women empowerment, social advocacy, and humanitarian intervention across the state. Ashimi noted that her leadership style has strengthened unity among women and reinforced grassroots development.

He further commended the First Lady’s role in advancing the state’s Renewed Hope agenda through consistent advocacy for the vulnerable, women, children, and the elderly, adding that her interventions have ensured that no segment of the population is left behind in Lagos’ developmental drive.

Ashimi also recalled with pride her outstanding tenure as Medical Director of Somolu General Hospital, describing her as a quiet but impactful architect of public healthcare in Somolu. He said long before she emerged as First Lady, she had earned the respect of residents through her dedication to saving lives and strengthening healthcare delivery at the community level.

“From the wards of Somolu General Hospital to the corridors of governance, Her Excellency has consistently demonstrated empathy, professionalism, and motherly care. Her life is a testament to service with a human face,” the council chairman stated.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Somolu Local Government, women leaders, executive aides, management staff, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ashimi offered prayers for continued good health, wisdom, and divine grace for the First Lady as she marks another year.

He expressed optimism that her 59th year would usher in renewed strength, peace, and greater accomplishments in service to Lagos State and humanity at large.

The message concluded with warm birthday wishes to the First Lady, whom Ashimi described as “the Matriarch of Lagos State,” while reaffirming Somolu’s pride in her remarkable journey and enduring legacy.
