…speaks extensively on religious tolerance, empowerment opportunities
At the Council Secretariat of Somolu, Chairman Ashimi welcomed The Muslim Congress (TMC) team led by Ustadhz Zikhrullah Kadri. Both parties channeled their thoughts towards excelling in the position entrusted upon them by the people.
He urged the delegation to uphold the crucial tenets of the Islamic religion, in a way that will help the community thrive on religious tolerance within and among diverse believers. Also, he was lauded for renewing people’s hope for Local Government (LG) intervention towards community growth.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to engage further on both the challenges and positive feedback regarding leadership positions and, most especially, the non-negotiable need to give back to the society. The engagement also included the presence of the Council’s Vibrant Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Ojomu, and ended with a presentation of a token gift to the leadership.
In another poignant discussion, Chairman Ashimi met the lead team of Embrace HER Initiative at his office. He applauded their core strength in ensuring young females have access to vital education, required grooming for personal development, and a life career boost, adding that the importance of women is crucial to nation-building.
While engaging the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), he reiterated his zeal to provide opportunities for the younger generation, a commendable act that has been reflecting in his administrative programmes since July 2025. Similarly, among other initiatives, is the discourse between the Welfare Department of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development (MYSD) and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), which is aimed at championing Community Rehabilitation Exercises for both genders requiring governmental attention to drive positive values and sanity in the community.
He also revealed plans for upcoming programmes that will cater for the meaningful growth of young people in Somolu, especially in genuine areas, such as employment, intensive training, and empowerment.
