The immediate past chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. Olorogun Gbolahan Bagostowe celebrated his diamond jubilee on the 2nd of January amidst pomp and pageantry.
“Olorogun Adoye” as fondly called by his followers while speaking to Somolu News, described his clocking 60 years on earth as the mercy of his creator.

“Why would I not praise Him? Some of my mates have all gone to the great beyond and I think I’m one of the grateful people on the surface of the earth today. I give God the glory for sparing my life till this time and I will continue to praise Him as long as I’m still breathing”.
“The youth must also imbibe in the culture of a good lifestyle. Eat well and engage in some form of exercise which will keep them in a good frame of mind. And as for the young generation of politicians coming behind us, I want to enjoin them to wake up from their slumber, remain committed, shun bitter politics, and leave in peace with one another in the community”. He said

He continued, “When they tell you about something, try and find out about what you’re being told, do not jump into conclusion because what you’re told might not be true which might invariably cause unending crisis in the political arena or community”.
“A good leader must be a good listener and be very objective in dealing with issues that concern his people and community at large and not the other way round”. He opined

The dark in complexion and former Somolu council administrator, however, admonished top political leaders in the community to build an enduring political structure that’ll last the test of time where the young generation of politicians can tap from their fountain of knowledge and guide the inherited structure jealously.
“Building younger and reputable political leaders is sacrosanct rather than building followership that will not do the community any good. A community with young and vibrant leaders will no doubt take the community to a greater height”.

Meanwhile, as part of activities marking his 60th anniversary, Olorogun Bagostowe hosted 3-day sporting events which include a Ludo game, Chess, and table tennis championship where talents were hunt which he said will not only take the youth off the street but go a long way in reducing social vices in the community.
Present at the 60th birthday anniversary includes friends and family members, top All Progress Congress stalwarts, members, neighbours, and well-wishers.
