Lagos East Senatorial Bye-Election: Abiru holds media parley with community media, reiterates his commitment towards youths development

The All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Hon. Mukhail Tokunbo Abiru, on Thursday 19th November 2020 held a media parley with the community media, Lagos East Chief Press Secretary and Social Media influencers where he reaffirmed his commitment towards youth development if elected come 5th December 2020.

During the interactive session, Abiru made it known that no nation can do away with the youths and as such, he’s ready to give the youth the sense of belonging they desire as enshrined in his campaign agenda not leaving out women and vulnerable group in the society.

Abiru stressed further, “I have a well-orchestrated youth-oriented policy which will go a long way in boosting entrepreneurship, sports, increase infrastructure investment in public schools and as well support reform of the higher institution of learning in the country.”

“I will always support everything that will continue to bring improvement to human index both in terms of employment, infrastructural development as our focus now should be how to win and create the rightful atmosphere and job opportunities for everybody,” he stated

“However, on the issue of #Endsars Protest, right from the very beginning, I strongly supported the agitation of our youths against police brutality and for policing reforms as can be seen from my statements in both conventional and social media. On October 9, I called on the Inspector-General of Police to pursue comprehensive reforms to make the dissolution of SARS effective. On October 12, I urged the federal government to collaborate with the states, civil society organizations, and other critical stakeholders to initiate far-reaching reforms of the Nigerian Police that will translate into a truly citizen-centered and community-oriented policing system.”

In conclusion, he appreciates youths for being patriotic and demonstrated exceptional commitment and comportment during the peaceful #EndSARS protests all over Nigeria and specifically in Lagos state.

Abiru has, however, promised to represent the Lagos East constituency who all deserve high-quality representation with integrity, commitment, and passion for the people leveraging all the experience, competences, knowledge, and relationships which he has acquired over three decades as an economist, chartered accountant, banker, commissioner for finance, a senior banker, and CEO.
